A Dance in Donegal.

To fulfill her mother’s dying wish, Moira Doherty moves from Boston to the rolling green hills of 1921 Ireland to teach in a village school. She doesn’t expect to fall in love–or to uncover a scandalous family reputation her mother left behind years ago.

My Thoughts:

What a lovely debut! The atmosphere is so rich in description and culture. We aren’t just reading a book set in Ireland. Instead, we are there with Moira, experiencing every fascinating and heartbreaking moment with her.

I loved the dynamic between Sean and Moira. It was so fun, but it also had just enough tension to keep it from being too light. The entire community of characters felt like living, breathing people. When they were infuriating, when they were the best of humanity, when they were hurting or growing–Deibel did an excellent job of portraying each of them.

This novel is very inspirational and spiritually encouraging; however, it’s not a light or easy read. There is a potentially triggering incident within the pages. The details aren’t vulgar, but please be mindful if you are sensitive to such content.

Overall, I look forward to more from Deibel and anticipate her popularity as an author of inspirational historical fiction. A Dance in Donegal is out now!

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher. All expressed opinions belong to me.

Book Boyfriend:

Colm. Give me a helpful, kind, funny, wise man with a lovely accent who loves his woman and helps his neighbors. I am a fan! Sean plays a very close second, with his humor and gentle respect and protective nature.
