The Mistletoe Countess.

Mistletoe is beautiful and dangerous, much like the woman from Lord Frederick’s Percy’s past, so when he turns over a new leaf and arranges to marry for his estate, instead of his heart, he never expects the wrong bride to be the right choice. Gracelynn Ferguson never expected to take her elder sister’s place as a Christmas bride, but when she’s thrust into the choice, she will trust in her faithful novels and overactive imagination to help her not only win Frederick’s heart but also to solve the murder mystery of Havensbrook Hall before the ghosts from Frederick’s past ruin her fairytale future.

My Thoughts:

I need you to know that Freddie and Grace are some of my favorite fake people EVER. I can’t remember a time that I’ve laughed, swooned, blushed, and genuinely loved every second of a book like this.

Grace is an absolute riot! She comes across the page like walking sunshine. Her blatant innocence paired with her contagious optimism and endless imagination make for some quality content, especially in her interactions with other characters who love her despite fully believing she’s a little wacky. And no one adores her more than our beloved hero, Frederick. He’s jaded and in desperate need of the light that accompanies Grace. Together? Grace and Freddie are pure perfection. *chef’s kiss*

And there are so many great inspirational gems in this book. I found myself so encouraged while reading. Don’t be fooled; while ANY Pepper book is a romance through and through, this book delivers so much more than a simple love story between a man and woman. Readers are reminded that God never loses us. Our stories aren’t surprises to Him. He knows exactly what He’s doing and though we can often make a mess of things in our frail humanity, He is a master of redemption, of turning darkness to light.

Now as much as I completely adore this book, I will give a slight disclaimer: it’s a novel about a fairly newlywed couple. And though everything happens behind closed doors, there are certain scenes that could be considered “spicy”. I personally thought everything was tastefully done, but I fully recognize that readers have different tolerance levels and different expectations when reading Christian fiction. Make the best decision for yourself. Live your best life. I believe in you. 🙂

There’s so much more I want to say about this book! There’s a mystery and at one point in the novel, I said, “I can’t tell who I’m supposed to trust or who did what. I FEEL LIKE I’M READING A JAIME JO WRIGHT BOOK.” So allow that little tidbit of information to speak for itself. You don’t want to miss this one, friends. It releases on September 1!

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the author. All expressed opinions belong to me.

Book Boyfriend:

Mmkay. I LOVE Frederick. Truly, madly, deeply. But because I love Freddie AND Grace so dearly, I genuinely cannot steal him away from Grace. It just feels wrong. So my next option will be Blake. He just gets it, even when Frederick is clueless (bless his heart). Blake for the win!
