My Thoughts:

WHAT DID I JUST READ?!

I’m more of a romance girl than a suspense girl, so half the time, I really can’t peg the “who” in a whodunit. But this time, I seriously had no clue what was going on–and I mean that in the best possible way! Every single time I thought I had something figured out, Goddard would switch things up on me.

It was fascinating and frustrating and everything a good suspense novel is supposed to be.

This was my first Goddard novel, but if this is an accurate sample of her writing voice, I’m a fan! She reminds me of Dee Henderson, whom I love. The romance isn’t subtle, but it certainly isn’t overpowering. If you’re looking for a read with a ribbon of romance threaded through edge-of-your-seat suspense, this book is the ticket.

I will say that there are a lot of moving pieces in this book, which I found disorienting at first. In a sense, many stories are being told. But it all serves a purpose and I’ll also say the payoff for so many threads was definitely rewarding. Goddard knows what she’s doing; just trust the ride.

Present Danger is available now, so get your copy, friends! It’s a smart read with a lot of heart.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All expressed opinions belong to me.

Book Boyfriend:

Jack Tanner. My dear sweet precious Jack. He doesn’t realize he’s made of golden things, which (of course) makes him a million times more lovely. He’s an insecure huckabee with good intentions who is really good at his job. And he has a protective streak! Need I say more?
